5 Botox Myths Debunked by Tarporley’s Nurse Prescriber

Botox treatment is extremely popular among many patients in Tarporley. Busy lives mean they want a natural way to reduce wrinkles without any downtime. Unfortunately online fake news about injection sites, frozen facial muscles, and better laser treatments can cause confusion.

They may lead you to choose the wrong provider for this popular procedure. I want to set the record straight with sound advice and myth busting.

Why should you listen to me? I am a qualified aesthetics nurse prescriber. I have over 10 years of experience treating professionals from Tarporley Cheshire in my Botox clinic.

Key Safety Points

  • I use prescription-only botulinum toxin (Botox® Azzalure or Bocouture®).
  • I always map facial muscles precisely to avoid unwanted spread.
  • I give post-care advice that includes staying out of the sun. Avoid alcohol, alpha hydroxy products, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Myth 1 – “Botox Isn’t Safe”

Reality:

Botox injections have a 20‑year safety record when performed by a qualified medical professional. At Definity Aesthetics, I get every vial from pharmacies approved by the MHRA. Each patient has a detailed consultation and legal prescription. This helps me check for any issues, like pregnancy or neuromuscular disorders ensuring a safe procedure every time.

Myth 2 – “Botox Always Looks Frozen”

Reality:

When the dose is tailored to your unique facial anatomy, movement remains natural. I focus on small muscle fibers that cause frown lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines. This does not affect the larger muscles used for expression. But I do get the odd request for a frozen look and I provide the results as requested.

Note: Less movement in the forehead can cause a heaviness of the brows. So I do not recommended a frozen look in patients with in hooded eyes.

Tarporley’s Natural Botox Result Checklist

  1. Micro‑dosing in the forehead area and glabella.
  2. Assessing animation before each injection site.
  3. Review appointment if needed to tweak at two weeks to fine‑tune.

Myth 3 – “It Hurts and Requires Days Off”

Reality: Most clients rate discomfort 2/10 and don’t even require numbing cream. Treatments last less than 30 minutes. You can go back to work right away, that’s why its known as the dinner break treatment. Just avoid gym classes, heat and harsh skin products or treatments for 24hrs.

This is what my patients say about the treatment:

At Definity Aesthetics Tarporley, I had treatment in the morning. I went back to my meetings within an hour of my anti-wrinkle treatment. – Sarah, 40, Tarporley.

Myth 4 – “Azzalure Is Inferior to Botox”

Reality:

Azzalure is what I use in my clinic, and I get great results from using this Botulinum Toxin. Truth is Botox is just a brand of the same prescription only drug Botulinum Toxin. All Toxins clinically get comparable results so product choice is because of training or practitioner choice.

Myth 5 – “Botox Costs the Same Everywhere”

Reality:

Fees vary with practitioner expertise, product brand, and the number of facial areas treated. Unfortunately because of a lack of regulation in the aesthetics industry the cost and safety of these treatments varies. Cheap anti-wrinkle treatments come with fake or imported Botox. They may also involve practitioners without the right qualifications or regulations.

Typical Tarporley Botox Pricing

Area Treated Units (approx.) Price (from)
1 area (forehead or frown) 20 units £180
2 areas 32 units £250
3 areas 42 units £300

All prices include a 14-day review and complimentary top-up if required.

Botox Treatment red flags to watch out for:

  • No face-to-face prescription – Botox is a prescription-only medicine. No prescriber = no treatment.

  • Unlabelled or foreign-language vials – Genuine Botox comes from Allergan with clear batch info.

  • Improper dilution – Botox should only be reconstituted with sterile, preservative-free saline.

  • No facial assessment – Ethical clinics tailor your dose to your muscle movement and goals.

  • Instant top-ups offered – Botox takes 10–14 days to work. Top-ups before that aren’t appropriate.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Most patients enjoy smoother skin for 3‑4 months; longevity may shorten with intense workouts or prolonged sun exposure. Ask us about maintenance plans that sync with your fitness routine.

There is a lot of mis information about resistance to Botulinum Toxin. Individuals who say the treatments does not work on them. While you can become resistant to the toxin or certain brands this is extremely rare. <1 % of aesthetic patients will ever develop true biologic resistance.

Poor treatment results can happen for a few reasons. These include bad technique from the injector, using fake products, or diluting the medication too much.

Post‑Treatment Do’s & Don’ts (24 Hours)

  • Do: Keep upright for four hours, gently move facial muscles.
  • Don’t: Book laser treatments, rub the injection site, or hit a hot yoga class.
  • Avoid: Extreme heat, excessive exercise and alcohol
  • Contact: Get in touch if you have spreading redness or pus, bad headache, vision changes, or obvious droop/asymmetry
  • Remember: Mild redness, headache or pinpoint bruising resolves within days of the treatment.

Tarporley Botox Client Testimonial

After becoming unhappy with the results of my Botox from a previous injector, I spoke Deryn and she took lots of time to speak to me about why I was unhappy to see if she could help me achieve the result I wanted. As she teaches injectables, I felt that she would know best and she definitely does. Couldn’t recommend her enough in terms of knowledge etc and shes so lovely to chat to too! 10/10! – Rebecca Allen Tarporley
